US poultry group Pilgrim’s Pride is to invest US$15m in the construction of a feed mill facility in Alabama.

Construction on the Enterprise-based facility will begin in the next 30 days, the company said. In addition, Pilgrim’s is investing $10m on a renovation of the group’s poultry processing plant in Enterprise, Alabama.

The new feed mill in Pinckard will replace the existing feed mill, currently located in Enterprise, and will employ around 25 people.

“This significant investment is consistent with our strategy of relentless pursuit of operational excellence and will improve our efficiencies, cost structure and competitiveness, while creating a safer work environment for our employees,” said Pilgrim’s EVP of sales and operations, Jayson Penn.
