Just, the US company which produces imitation egg products, has bought its first manufacturing plant.
The San Francisco business, formerly known as Hampton Creek, has acquired a 30,000 sq ft facility and 40 acres of land in Appleton, Minnesota, for an undisclosed sum.

Just, established by entrepreneur Josh Tetrick, said the facility will be used to scale up the manufacture of its Just Egg product.
The plant it has bought has been serving the food ingredient industry for more than 30 years, operating as Del Dee Foods.
Just said that for more than a year it has partnered with Dee Dee to scale up its protein extraction process and the factory is now responsible for a majority of its protein processing.
It said the facility – which employs 40 people – now has the ability to support its production needs up to six days a week, 24 hours a day.
The facility houses industrial food processing equipment, a quality assurance laboratory, warehousing and administrative offices, with room for further expansion.

US retailers, including Walmart, Kroger and Whole Foods are carrying the Just Egg product, along with foodservice operators. The product has also been launched in China, Hong Kong and Singapore.
Just Egg’s key ingredient is protein from the mung bean.
