Campbell Soup Co.’s Plum Organics has stopped production of its Little Crèmes rice snacks range after the product was a subject of a recall last week.

On 5 September the US Food and Drug Administration announced Plum was “voluntarily recalling” its Little Crèmes organic rice milk snacks line “after it was found that the product has the potential to cause choking”.

The product contains small “bite-sized snack pieces” that are “made to soften in a child’s mouth in less than 20 seconds making them easy to swallow”.

Plum, however, said some pieces were found to take significantly longer than this and could cause a choking hazard. After receiving complaints from consumers, “including reports of injuries”, the firm withdrew the product from the market.

“At this stage we are not planning to continue to make Little Crèmes,” a spokesperson told just-food.
