The US-based company is to build a plant in the Polish town of Kutno as it bids to tap into the region’s emerging markets.
Chris Wermann, director of Kellogg’s corporate communications in the UK and northern Europe, said the company had a small presence in some Eastern European but this is its first “substantive” investment in the region.
“Our predictions for growth are bigger than our current capacity in Europe and we need to get closer to what is potentially 150m mouths in that part of Europe,” Wermann told just-food today (12 December).
The Kutno plant will produce Kellogg’s “flagship cereals”, Wermann said. The company has not disclosed the cost of the project but Wermann said comparable facilities cost in the region of $50m.
