US private-label food group Ralcorp Holdings has seen its quarterly earnings almost double thanks to strong profits from its cereals division in the wake of its Post Foods acquisition.

The company said yesterday (10 November) that net earnings for the three months to 30 September reached US$79.9m – up sharply from $41.1m a year earlier. Fourth-quarter net sales stood at $983.2m, compared to $873.5m a year ago.
The figures meant a buoyant end to the year for Ralcorp, which booked annual net earnings of $290.4m – a leap of 73% – and a 37.8% jump in net sales to $3.89bn.
