US firm Quest Nutrition, a maker of protein-based products, is to launch into the savoury snacks aisle with the launch of a crisps line.
Quest, which has protein bars in its portfolio, alongside protein-heavy sweet snacks and a pasta line, told just-food it has a “major retailer locked in” for its Quest Protein Chips range.
The crisps contain 21g of protein and five grams of carbohydrates. Quest said the product is “low in fat”, with 1.5g of the ingredient.
Three flavours – sea salt, barbecue and cheddar and sour cream – go on sale via the Quest website tomorrow (29 July) but the company said a mainstream US listing will follow. It plans to reveal the listing next month.
“At Quest Nutrition our goal is to revolutionise food by making healthy versions of traditionally unhealthy foods that people love to eat,” president and co-founder Tom Bilyeu said.
