US grocery chain Publix has promoted Charles Roskovich to the position of senior vice president of product business development.

Roskovich joined Publix in 1975 as a front-service clerk before becoming store manager in 1993, district manager in 1995 and regional director in 2000.

Since January 2008, he has been vice president of the firm’s Atlanta division. In his new position, Roskovich will oversee the grocer’s customer service, manufacturing and product business development operations.

The position is effective from 1 January 2011.

“This new role will make us even more effective as an organisation,” said Publix CEO Ed Crenshaw.
