US-based consumer goods giant The Clorox Co. has booked a dip in second-quarter profits, despite rising sales at home and abroad.

The company, maker of Hidden Valley salad dressings, booked an 8% rise in quarterly sales to US$1.2bn for the three months to 31 December.
Nevertheless, net earnings dipped from $96m a year earlier to $92m. Clorox said the fall in profits came in part due to restructuring charges.
Clorox makes a range of consumer goods, from cleaning to personal care products. In North America, the company sales rose 6%, while internationally, sales jumped 17%.
