Midwest grocery retailer Roundy’s Supermarkets has announced it has agreed to open a new store at the New City YMCA site, located at 1515 North Halsted in Chicago, as part of a planned expansion programme for the Chicago area.

The company said the new site is intended to be one of many stores it will open over the next three years in the Chicago area, bringing an anticipated 2,000 jobs to the city.


“Our expansion into Chicago marks an extremely positive time in our company’s history,” said Robert Mariano, chairman and chief executive officer of Roundy’s. “As we continue to grow in Wisconsin and Minnesota, we recognise an opportunity to expand into the Chicago market to fill a need for more unique grocers.”
