The US poultry group said it is evaluating potential sites for new facilities and has confirmed that it is looking at locations for a new plant in North Carolina.
Last month, Sanderson Farms reported a first-quarter profit of US$11.6m as a result of improving poultry market prices. This compared to a loss of US$3.4m in the corresponding period last year.
