Sara Lee has launched a line of “better-for-you” frozen breakfast sandwiches under the Jimmy Dean brand.
The US food group will domestically roll out Jimmy Dean D-lights in three flavours – Canadian Bacon, Turkey Sausage and Black Forest Ham.
Sold in packages of four, each sandwich has a third fewer calories and half the fat of leading breakfast sandwiches, and is meant to satisfy what the company calls “the growing desire for a traditional and sensible breakfast”.
The Turkey Sausage D-Lights for example, contain turkey sausage, egg white and cheese on a whole grain muffin.
The sandwiches follow this year’s rollout of Breakfast Bowls, another offering from Jimmy Dean’s extensive line of heat-and-serve traditional breakfast products.
