The company said the closure is due to the loss of a “major” frozen pizza dough customer.

“We do not yet know when the facility will close – the timing of the closure depends on when the remaining bagel and frozen pizza dough production will be transferred to other facilities,” a spokesperson told just-food.

“Sara Lee will provide severance and outplacement assistance to employees consistent with company policy, along with transition services and information on positions  that are available internally and externally,” the spokesperson added.

Sara Lee began operating the Greenville plant in 1984 after acquiring it from King’s Hawaiian Bakery.
