The family-owned company said the organic line would be available in four flavours: vanilla bean, cookies and cream, blueberries and cream and mint chocolate chip. Each is packaged in a 1.5-quart container. The line is now available throughout the Smith Dairy retail region, the company said.

“With the growing consumer demand for organic products, Ruggles Organic ice cream is a natural, ” said Smith’s director of marketing Penny Baker.

The range is made with ingredients produced without the use of antibiotics, pesticides, herbicides, or fertilisers.

Baker continued: “In the last ten years, organic ice cream sales have grown 55%, so we know the future is bright for this new line. But we also realise that organic farming helps restore and preserve the environment in harmony with nature, so the future is brighter for all of us, too.”
