The company is planning to start producing its Snack ‘n Waffles line at the Scottsville plant, which makes Uncrustables frozen peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and employs 288 people.

“The addition of the new Snack’n Waffles line to our Scottsville facility will allow us to better meet the needs of our consumers while continuing to grow the successful operation already in place there,” a JM Smucker spokesperson told just-food yesterday (25 March).

Last month, JM Smucker said third-quarter net income jumped 84% to US$77.9m, boosted by the acquisition of the Folgers coffee business and despite higher restructuring costs.

However, the company cut its 2009 outlook on expected weak peanut butter sales and increased costs.
