US meat giant Tyson Foods has appointed a new member to its board of directors and a chairman to its compensation committee.

Jim Kever, previously of Envoy Corporation, will take up his role of lead independent director and member of the executive committee with immediate effect, as well as continuing to serve as chairman of the audit committee.
Kevin McNamara, executive vice president and CFO of HealthSpring, will serve as chairman of the company’s compensation committee.
“Since becoming chairman, I’ve worked with the board on ways to enhance our approach to corporate governance,” said John Tyson, chairman of Tyson Foods. “These most recent measures are evidence of the progress we continue to make in this important area of our business.”
