Unilever is to launch frozen fruit bar brand Fruttare, first developed in Brazil in the 1980s, in the US.

The company’s range of Fruttare fruit and milk bars, as well as the fruit and juice lines, will roll out next month.

The world’s largest ice cream company said Fruttare, first launched in Brazil, was “now a global brand” on sale in 15 countries. The brand is also on sale in markets including Canada, Mexico, India an Turkey.

“There’s no ice cream and frozen fruit bar market on the globe bigger than the US and Fruttare is a beloved global frozen fruit bar brand. It was natural for us to want to introduce the brand in the US,” Unilever told just-food. “We’re very excited to bring these Fruttare Fruit and Milk bars, which are made with real fruit and creamy milk, and the Fruttare Fruit and Juice Bars, which are made with real fruit, to freezers across the country.”

A marketing campaign to launch Fruttare in the US features hip-hop artist Ne-Yo and UK X-Factor contestant Cher Lloyd.
