Unilever United States is recalling approximately 36,560 pounds of chicken noodle soup – some of which was sent to military bases in the US – after failing to label an undeclared milk protein as an ingredient.

The New Jersey-based company has voluntarily recalled approximately 140,000 boxes, weighing 4.2 ounces each, of Lipton Noodle Soup-Chicken Noodle with diced white chicken meat, which contained the undeclared potential allergen.
The product was produced between 1-9 February 2006, before being sold to retail establishments and shipped to military bases in the US.
The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service said the problem was discovered following a consumer complaint, but it has received no reports of illness due to consumption of these products.
The unlabelled soups display best if used by dates between 27 April 2007 and 5 May 2007, with shipping cases bearing the code 4100000332, and boxes 413320.
