United Natural Foods has unveiled plans to lease a new 590,000 distribution centre in Lancaster, Texas.

The US distributor of natural and organic foods said that the recently constructed building is “strategically located” 15 miles from downtown Dallas.

The facility provides UNFI with an ideal location to support retailers throughout the south-west, including in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arkansas and Louisiana, the company said.

Operations are scheduled to start next autumn.

Within the first year, the company expects to employ around 130 people at the facility.
