US confectioner The Warrell Corporation has purchased the assets of Pennsylvania-based The Classic Caramel Co. in a bid to expand its presence in the caramel sector.

The company said yesterday (14 April) that the acquisition will enhance both Warrell’s speciality distribution business and its contract manufacturing capabilities.
“Several new and current products planned for production in the York, PA plant will be sold both through Pennsylvania Dutch Candies and traditional Classic sales channels,” said Patrick Huffman, president of Warrell Corp.
“The manufacturing lines are first class and capable of producing the best caramel products available for use in chocolate enrobing and moulding, cake and pastry manufacturing, snacks and nutraceuticals. We are pleased to strengthen our capabilities with this acquisition.
Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
