Wahlstrom succeeds Pete Van Helden, who was recently named president and CEO of the company’s newly formed California food division. Wahlstrom has worked for the company for 33 years and has held a wide variety of leadership roles in both drugstore and food operations, including vice president for the Osco New England division as well as president of the Albertsons Florida food division. Most recently he served as senior vice president of mergers and integration, with responsibility for the integration of Shaw’s and Star Markets, which the company acquired in April.


Wahlstrom will report directly to Larry Johnston, Albertsons’ chairman, president and CEO.
