Avalon Foodservice, one of the largest independent wholesale foodservice distributors in Ohio, has named Terry O’Connor as president emeritus and promoted Keith Kilgore to president.
Kilgore joined Avalon as VP, strategic planning in January, 1998. He quickly progressed to senior VP before being named executive VP in 2000. Previously, he was the president of Acme Foodservice. Kilgore is active on various committees in the foodservice industry and presently serves on the editorial advisory board of ID Magazine and the financial board of directors for Ronald McDonald House in Akron.
O’Connor has been president of Avalon since 1997. Under his leadership, sales have almost doubled, increasing from about US$23m to nearly US$43m. He encouraged active participation in industry groups, the development of a corporate vision, and long term strategic planning with input from all employees. O’Connor was active in the strategic planning for Premier, formerly Avalon’s national buying group, and was on the board for their chain account division.
As president emeritus, O’Connor will focus on several key projects involving Avalon’s parent company, The Schroer Group. At the end of the year he will assume the responsibilities of executive VP of The Schroer Group.
