US food maker B&G Foods has said it has agreed to buy the Ortega Mexican food brand from Nestlé USA, a subsidiary of Swiss food giant Nestlé.
Financial terms of the deal, which is expected to close in 60 days, were not disclosed.
The Ortega brand includes taco shells, sauces, seasoning, salsa and refried beans. Ortega’s manufacturing operations are expected to remain in Stoughton, Wisconsin, reported the Associated Press.
Parsippany, New Jersey-based B&G, which makes Polaner fruit-based spreads and B&G pickles, is purchasing the brand in order to expand its product offering.
