Miami-based fastfood giant Burger King Corp has acquired 20 restaurants in Norfolk, Virginia from the Cimm’s Restaurant Group.
As a result of the purchase, BK now owns 598 US restaurants, of which 43 are in the state of Virginia. The company revealed that it will invest capital in these newly acquired restaurants, including remodeling the facilities in the new BK image design, as well as kitchen and drive-thru enhancements.
The Cimm’s Restaurant Groups remains one of the largest franchisees in the BK system with 100 restaurants in Houston, TX and Los Angeles, CA. All staff and management in the purchased restaurants were offered positions with Burger King Corp.
“This acquisition is one of many strategic investments we are making in the BK brand,” said John Dasburg, chairman, CEO & president, Burger King Corp: “We will continue to look for opportunities to increase our company restaurant base in support of our long-term development plan.”
