Expanding on the successful introduction of its California Pizza Kitchen® (CPK) frozen pizza in select markets, CPK is now expanding its distribution to Florida, New York and Texas.

“We’re delighted to expand our distribution of California Pizza Kitchen frozen pizza in Florida, New York and Texas, where we already have fans of the great, fresh flavors offered at the restaurants,” said Fred Hipp, president and CEO.

With this expansion, California Pizza Kitchen frozen pizza is now distributed in 17 markets. Since the launch of CPK frozen pizzas in 1998, retailers in each market are pleased that the brand brings a new group of consumers to the frozen pizza case.

Larry Flax and Rick Rosenfeld, co-founders of California Pizza Kitchen and the Kraft Pizza Company collaborated to bring these pizzas to the frozen pizza section of grocery stores. Since 1998, CPK frozen pizzas have been introduced in Atlanta, Baltimore/Washington DC, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Hawaii, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Sacramento, San Diego, San Francisco and Seattle.

Frozen pizza is one of the fastest-growing categories in the supermarket, with growth of approximately 6% in 2001 and sales of approximately US$2.6bn.
