In recent years, health organisations have been warning that growing numbers of bacteria are becoming resistant to antibiotics. The potential ability of cranberry to protect against this suggests that scientists could find away of cutting down on the need for antibiotics.


The study, conducted jointly between Rutgers and the University of Michigan, suggests that cranberry could be a useful ally in preventing infections.
