Several Ralphs Grocery customers in California have filed lawsuits against the retailer and its parent, Kroger, over a hotel stay promotion prize, which they claim the chain did not honour.

According to the lawsuit more than 300,000 customers who spend US$400 or more at Ralphs stores were awarded “Reservation Redemption Certificates” in the company’s two-night hotel stay offer, reported Reuters.

The customers were told to select possible travel dates, but when more than 50,000 tried to redeem the reward, they were told that Ralphs had been unable to fulfil their choices, the lawsuit said. It was not clear how many customers actually received their hotel stays.
