US food producer Del Monte Foods has announced today that Melissa C Plaisance has joined the company as senior vice president, finance and corporate communications, and has been designated an executive officer.

In this newly created position, Plaisance will be responsible for investor relations, media relations, government relations, internal and external communications and other corporate finance activities, Del Monte said.
Plaisance, 43, was formerly senior vice president, finance and investor relations at California-based grocery retailer Safeway.
