US snack nuts company Diamond Foods has announced new distribution expansion in the club and convenience store channels for its Emerald product line.

In the club channel, the Northeast division of Costco has placed an initial order for Emerald’s Original Glazed Walnuts, while the Midwest division of Costco has placed an initial order for Emerald’s Chocolate Brownie flavour. These orders are expected to be on the shelves in the 65 Northeast Warehouse Clubs and 39 Midwest Warehouse Clubs by the upcoming holiday season.

In the convenience store channel, the company has made new agreements with Shell Entertainment and McLean Southeast. Shell is a 90-store chain based in Boston, Massachusetts. McLean Southeast provides direct store delivery to 450 convenience stores in Florida operated under the Hess, Gate, Kwik King, Handy Pantry and Sparky’s banners.

“Consumers’ response to the Emerald product line continues to be strong,” said Michael Mendes, president and chief executive officer.

“We are pleased to initiate Emerald distribution in club stores and to increase distribution in convenience stores. The goal for fiscal 2006 is to at least double Emerald sales and this distribution expansion increases the opportunity for us to achieve our target,” Mendes added.
