A former US government veterinarian has claimed the US government is hiding cases of BSE in the United States.
During a recent speech in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Dr Lester Friedlander stated that colleagues with the United States Department of Agriculture have told him informally of cases that the USDA has chosen not to announce.
The Edmonton Journal reported his concerns that both Canada and the United States using similar production practices yet only Canada has uncovered BSE. “You’ve found four cases out of 12 million cattle and the United States has found none out of 120 million,” he said.
