US grocery distributor Fleming has announced E. Stephen Davis is to retire from his position as executive vice president and president of wholesale.

Davis, who has worked for Fleming for 43 years, will remain involved in the organisation until 1 May 2003, and will be active in supporting the transition to his successor.
Davis is to be succeeded by William May, who has been promoted from his position as senior vice president of operations.
