The class-action lawsuit was filed by a group in Tennessee, although the settlement apples so any Food Lion customer.
Speaking on behalf of the store group, Jeff Lowrance said Food Lion believed it had complied with the law, but had decided to reach an agreement with the consumer group to avoid going to court.
Consumers who used an MVP discount card between 1995 and 1998 can cut out a coupon from the store’s weekly advertising flyer in July, and redeem it in-store for 28 cents, the amount agreed between the Food Lion and the attorney for the consumer group.
