US cereal maker General Mills has said it has received a formal request for information from the US Securities and Exchange Commission concerning its sales practices and related accounting.
The SEC has advised General Mills that it has not reached any conclusions related to the information requested, the company said in a statement.
General Mills said it believes that its business and accounting practices are proper and comply with all applicable regulations. The company added that it is cooperating fully in providing the information requested.
In April, General Mills was among several US food companies to be contacted by the SEC regarding the regulator’s investigation into Dutch retailer Ahold’s US Food Service business.
