To date, GCI plans for global data synchronisation have focused on standard item data, but have not yet addressed retailers’ needs for a broader set of data, including private item and relationship data. Recognising this need, GNX and Transora have outlined a phased plan to provide a solution.

Beginning immediately, GNX retailers will access core product data from multiple manufacturers via the Transora Data Catalogue to synchronise with their own internal systems via GNX. GNX and Transora will also work together to define, develop and implement an interoperable solution that supports retailer-specific data attributes within a machine-to-machine environment.

An initial pilot is underway in France with Carrefour, the world’s second-largest retailer and Procter & Gamble, a US-based global CPG manufacturer. Several global CPG manufacturers have also endorsed the alliance, including Colgate-Palmolive, Kraft, Sara Lee and Unilever.
