As the organic certifying agent for Jardine Foods, the Texas Department of Agriculture organic standards meet or exceed the upcoming national standards to qualify for the USDA ORGANIC seal.
According to president and CEO John Trube, “Receiving our organic certification represents the achievement of a significant milestone in our long term growth strategy. With the USDA Organic seal as the ‘gold standard,’ Jardine Foods will be one of only a handful of national producers able to certify salsas, sauces, and similar items under the strict national organic standards. This really sets us apart from the pack as organic producers are held to a much higher standard than those not organically certified.”
The Austin, Texas-based firm will initially launch its organic line of products under its SONTAVA! brand, and will also produce private label organic products for retailers, distributors and marketers. Beginning 21 October, when the national standards go into effect, Jardine Foods will use the ‘USDA Organic’ certification seal on its organic products. Until that time, the ‘Texas Department of Agriculture Certified Organically Produced’ seal will be used. Currently at US$15bn, the organic segment is experiencing the most significant and consistent growth over 20% annually.
