SYSCO Corporation (NYSE:SYY) announced today that Julie Swan has been promoted to executive vice president of Sysco Food Services of South Florida, a SYSCO subsidiary in Miami. Currently Ms. Swan is senior vice president and chief financial officer at Sysco Food Services – West Coast Florida, Inc., a SYSCO subsidiary in Palmetto, Fla. She will assume her new responsibilities July 1, 2001, the beginning of SYSCO’s fiscal year 2002.
Richard J. Schnieders, president and chief operating officer of SYSCO, said Ms. Swan, 50, began her career in 1978 as credit manager at SYSCO’s Miami operation. In 1980 she transferred to Sysco Food Services of Central Florida, located in Ocoee, Fla., as national account manager and later progressed to general manager of administrative services in 1982, assistant controller in 1986 and controller in 1990. Ms. Swan was appointed vice president of finance in 1993 and the following year she was promoted to the additional duties of chief financial officer. In 1995 she transferred to the West Coast Florida operating company as vice president and chief financial officer, and in 1999 she was promoted to her current position.
Ms. Swan is a native of Oak Park, Ill. In 1973 she received her bachelor of science degree from Georgetown University, located in Washington, D.C., and in 1984 she earned a master of business administration degree from Nova University, located in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. She and her husband, Ken, have two sons and will relocate to the south Florida area in the near future.
Sysco Food Services of South Florida, Inc. provides food and related products to restaurants, healthcare and educational institutions, lodging establishments, cruise lines and other foodservice operations throughout Florida’s Broward, Dade and Monroe counties.
