Kraft Foods Inc., a world leader in branded foods and beverages, announced that it has signed an agreement with Cadbury Schweppes Australia Limited to end its licensing arrangement in Australia for Kraft’s Maxwell House coffee and Tang powdered soft drink brands.

These brands, owned worldwide by Kraft Foods, had been licensed to Cadbury Schweppes in Australia since 1984. The termination of this licensing arrangement brings these brands back into Kraft Foods Australia’s portfolio.

”Beverages are a core category for Kraft Foods on a worldwide basis, and this agreement enhances our Australian presence with two of our key global beverage brands,” said Roger K. Deromedi, President and CEO of Kraft Foods International and Co-CEO of Kraft Foods Inc. Maxwell House is one of seven Kraft Foods brands that generates over $1 billion in annual sales. Tang is the largest selling powdered soft drink brand in the world.

Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

In more than 140 countries, Kraft Foods markets the world’s favorite food and beverage brands including Kraft cheese, Jacobs and Maxwell House coffees, Nabisco cookies and crackers, Philadelphia cream cheese, Oscar Mayer meats, Post cereals, and Milka chocolates.
