US doughnut maker and retailer Krispy Kreme has agreed to acquired six Dallas-area outlets and the rights to the Dallas and Shreveport markets for an undisclosed amount of cash, from the franchisee that currently operates these markets.

Krispy Kreme said it was excited about the acquisition: “With only five factory stores and one commissary in Dallas, we believe there is exceptional growth opportunity for additional stores and off-premises sales. Since we have no stores in Shreveport, we look forward to entering that market in the near future,” said Scott Livengood, Krispy Kreme chairman, president and chief executive officer.


The company, which currently operates 292 outlets in 38 states, said it expects the deal to be “modestly accretive” in fiscal 2004, reported Dow Jones News Service.
