US supermarket chain Kroger has reported net income for the fourth quarter to 1 February of US$381.0m, or 50 cents a share, compared to $368.5m, or 45 cents a share, a year earlier.

Excluding items, earnings were 49 cents a share.
Analysts had been expecting Kroger to earn between 47 cents and 52 cents a share, with a consensus estimate of 49 cents a share, reported Reuters.
