US spice maker McCormick & Co has reported a rise in quarterly profit, helped by promotions for new and seasonal items.
Maryland-based McCormick posted earnings from continuing operations of US$40.1m, or 28 cents a share, for the third quarter to 31 August, compared to $34.0m, or 24 cents a share, a year earlier.
Analysts polled by Reuters Research had been expecting, on average, profit of 29 cents a share, reported Reuters.
McCormick said its third-quarter sales increased around 17% to $557.6m from $477.3m a year earlier.
