US fastfood giant McDonald’s is soon to introduce a leaner version of its Chicken McNuggets, according to a report.

The new McNuggets will be smaller, will have less fat and fewer calories and will contain all white meat, Dow Jones International News reported, citing the Chicago Tribune.

Over the next six weeks, the company plans to phase the new version into its 13,600 US outlets.

“It’s clear now that consumers prefer white meat, so we started to work on how we might evolve the McNugget to a situation where it is now all white meat,” Wendy Cook, vice president of menu innovation, was quoted by Dow Jones as saying.

The six-piece McNuggets product will contain 260 calories and 16 grams of fat, down from 310 calories and 20 grams of fat in the previous version.
