US fastfood giant McDonald’s has said it expects to roll out its Go Active! Happy Meals for adults across the US later this year.

The adult Happy Meals, which have been tested at around 200 McDonald’s outlets in Indiana, are aimed at those consumers who want a lighter meal than the traditional burger and fries, reported Reuters.

The Happy Meal includes an entrée-sized salad, a bottle of water or medium soft drink, a fitness guide from celebrity trainer Bob Green and a pedometer.

“All the research says I should be able to go to McDonald’s and have choices,” Larry Light, McDonald’s global chief marketing officer, told Reuters in an interview. “We will have choices of the best-selling ideas.”

According to a company spokesman, the Go Active! Happy Meal is to be launched throughout the US mid-way through the year.
