US food retailer and distributor Nash Finch has announced the resignation of Jerry L Nelson, its president and chief operating officer.

Nelson joined Nash Finch in September 1999, serving as vice president and senior vice president of its Midwest region, then as president, food distribution, before becoming president and COO in September 2002.
Nash Finch said David Bersie, senior vice president of food distribution, will now report directly to CEO Ron Marshall.
The company, which operates more than 100 stores in the Upper Midwest, did not name a successor for Nelson.
