Representing the interests of food manufacturers and retailers, the two associations said labelling options available to producers should remain voluntary.


The clear labelling of ingredients that could trigger allergic reactions has been a hot topic of discussion in the US over the last few months. FAAN, the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network, has called for mandatory labelling requirements, while the CSPI (Center for Science in the Public Interest) accused some food manufacturers of selling food in deliberately misleading packaging.
