US poultry producer Pilgrim’s Pride has announced that O.B. Goolsby, Jr. has been named chief executive officer of the company.

Goolsby will also continue to serve as the company’s president and chief operating officer.
Pilgrim’s Pride also announced that its board of directors has elected Keith W. Hughes as a new outside director and audit committee member. Hughes’ election increases the total number of Pilgrim’s Pride directors to 13, of which eight are outside directors.
Prior to assuming the positions of president and chief operating officer in 2002, Goolsby served as executive vice president, Prepared Food Complexes since 1998. He was appointed senior vice president, Prepared Foods Operations, in 1992, and vice president, Prepared Foods Operations, in 1987. Goolsby joined Pilgrim’s Pride in 1969 in the Food Sales Division. In 1981 he left the company to pursue other interests but returned to Pilgrim’s Pride in 1986.
