The second-largest US poultry producer Pilgrim’s Pride has recalled around 295,000 pounds of turkey and chicken deli meat on concerns that it may have become contaminated with the listeria bacteria.

The recalled products are under Pilgrim’s Pride’s Wampler Foods brand.

The US Department of Agriculture has stated that the recall is not connected to a major listeria outbreak in the northeast United States that has sickened 120 people and caused 20 fatalities.

Listeria can cause fever, headaches and nausea, and can be very serious among pregnant women and the elderly.
