Houston-based Sysco Corp, the largest foodservice marketing and distribution firm in the US, has expanded the responsibilities of Larry J. Accardi.

Currently executive VP, merchandising services and president of specialty distribution, Accardi will also take on the additional role of executive VP, multi-unit sales, effective immediately.
Accardi’s scope of responsibility has been expanded due to the company’s continued growth in both product breadth and geographic presence.
Richard J. Schnieders, president and COO, said that Accardi joined Sysco in 1976 as a director of programme accounts at Sysco’s Memphis operating company. In 1982 he was promoted to director of marketing, then VP, marketing in 1984. In 1985 he became senior VP, marketing/merchandising.
In 1989 Accardi assumed the role of president and COO of Sysco’s operation in Jackson, Miss., a position he held until 1992 when he was named CEO. In 1995 he transferred to the Atlanta operating company as president and CEO.

By GlobalDataIn 1998, Accardi was promoted to Sysco Corp’s senior VP, operations, northeast region. He relocated to the corporate office in 2000 as executive VP, merchandising services and in January 2002 assumed additional duties as president of specialty distribution.
