US grocery retailer Safeway has announced the appointment of Melissa C. Plaisance as senior vice president, finance and investor relations.

In her executive role, Plaisance will have overall responsibility for the company’s treasury and investor relations functions.
Plaisance returns to Safeway from Del Monte Foods, where she was senior vice president, finance and corporate communications. At Del Monte, she oversaw investor relations, corporate communications and community and government relations. Before joining Del Monte, Plaisance spent 13 years with Safeway. She started with the company in 1990 as director, investor relations and, after assuming progressively greater responsibility, was named senior vice president, finance and investor relations in 1995.
