USA: Sara Lee to phase out some of its local fresh bread brands
US food and consumer goods company Sara Lee said it plans to eliminate some of its local fresh bread brands in a bid to improve the profitability of its bakery business.
P>US food and consumer goods company Sara Lee said it plans to eliminate some of its local fresh bread brands in a bid to improve the profitability of its bakery business.
The company, which distributes more than 100 brands of fresh bread in the US, said that was too many to manage effectively. It also said it was considering closing some bakeries.
Rather than lose sales to its rivals, Sara Lee plans to move consumers to other Sara Lee brands whilst phasing out its smaller local brands, reported Dow Jones International News.
