The facility’s around 270 employees were informed in June that the plant would be closed by 19 September if a buyer was not found.
Company spokesman Fred Zerza said Simplot had been trying to sell the plant because it had not been turning a profit.
Since last November, the company has closed several facilities in Idaho, including a French fry processing line and an ethanol plant.
