The survey, carried out in December 2001 by New Jersey-based market research firm, Hase Schannen Research, revealed that a massive 98% of the consumers interviewed consider fibre to be healthy.
A random sample of 300 health-conscious adults across the US were telephone interviewed for 15 minutes. As well as the findings on fibre, the survey also revealed that consumers are increasingly turning to packaging and labeling as a source of information with 79% of women shoppers and 61% of male shoppers saying that they regularly read ingredient labels.
The study has been welcomed by industry players.
